The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) is an organisation in Thailand with its mission to explore in-depth knowledge of the universe through research, technology development, outreach and networking. Amongst the priorities is to establish and expand international collaborations and academic cooperation networks in astronomy with foreign organisations. NARIT thus organises “The 9th Thai Astronomical Conference (Student Session)” (TACs 2023) to be the stage for the youth (especially in high school level) to present, and exchange their experiences and knowledge on astronomy projects. Teachers, educators and outreach practitioners in astronomy are among the focused audiences in TACs, who will act as mentors for astronomy projects in high school level.
Although, TACs serves primarily as a domestic platform for participants in Thailand, NARIT also welcomes foreign participants by organizing an “English Session”, where participants (presenters & observers) will have oral presentation, poster presentation, Question & Answer in English.
The venue for the competition is held at Khum Phucome hotel, Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand. The NARIT HQ - Princess Sirindhorn AstroPark is the venue of the special excursion organised for the participants.
On 24 June 2023, three of our SST students participated in the competition with their respective projects. They are:
Image data acquisition for NOAA 18 and 19 weather satellites using QFH Antenna and SDR
Hariharan Ravichanthiran (S4-05)
