Kumamoto Kita High School - Super Science High School Research Presentation 2021

Super Science High School (SSH) is a designation awarded by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to upper secondary schools that prioritiSe science, technology, and mathematics. The program was launched as part of its "Science Literacy Enhancement Initiatives" in 2002. Schools with this status receive increased funding and are encouraged to develop links with universities and other academic institutions.

Kumamoto Prefectural Kumamoto Kita High School is a public high school located in Usagidani 3-chome, Kita-ku, Kumamoto City , Kumamoto Prefecture. Previously, there were visits between the two schools either way. 

On 16th July 14:50 to 15:30 (JST), two teams of SST students participated in their Science Research Fair. 

The students were: 

Investigation in the type of soil affecting soil erosion and soil shear strength

  • ALPHAEUS GOH GUAN WEI S3-04
  • Ong Zhi Xuan S3-01
  • Caspar Sim S3-06

Investigation of the gravitational field strength at different heights

  • ISAAC CHEOK S2-04
  • OOI JING SHUN S2-04
  • ONG XUAN KAI S2-04

 

The pictures of the Science Fair below shows a potential way forward for the students of both schools to interact with each other either in person or online.
