NJC Science Training and Research (STaR) Symposium 2019 (29 – 30 January 2019)

1. The Science Training and Research (STaR) Programme was initiated in 2001 to structure opportunities for students in National Junior College to hone and develop their research skills in various projects. The annual STaR symposium aims to provide a platform for students to present their research work done in the STaR programme and to learn more about the different work done by their peers.
2. Schools are warmly invited to participate in STaR Symposium 2019, so as to encourage sharing and exploration of future collaborative projects among students. Schools may participate in poster presentation and/or having student audience to view the various projects on display.
3.  School of Science and Technology participated with 3 teams of 6 students with the following projects:
(a) Matthew Liang Ying Hao (S4-01) Mathematical modeling of the skin effect in alternating currents as a common effect of electromagnetic induction 
(b) Ng Shi Yu, Yeo Zhen Xi Naythan (S2-05), Thangaraja Prasanna (S2-06) Investigation of the effects of colour light on the symbiotic relationship between sea anemone and Symbiodinium and the Development of a UV delivery system for the growth of anemone 
(c) Ng Zhi En, Reuben (S4-08)  Chong Ing Kai (S4-01) Development of a Remotely Operated Vehicle to assist in data collection of coral reefs (Best in Category)
