Youth Science Ambassador Programme 2019

  


 

On 15 Nov 2019, 5 students from SST graduated from the Youth Science Ambassador Programme.

The following students contributed at least 50 hours to brainstorm, plan and execute a Science project that benefits the society. 

The students are: 
CHUA WEI DA (S2-02) 
KIERET KAUR SHEENA (S2-03) 
CELINE CHAN (S2-03) 
SIOW XI EN, AIDAN (S2-05) 
SHAUN MAX SUDHAKAR (S2-06) 

About Youth Science Ambassador Programme

The initial training and development take place in the Science Centre. Students will be mentored through a series of programme that includes:
1. Project research skills
2. Techniques for oral presentation and science communication.


The programme culminates in a project presentation. After which, students will apply their skills outside Science Centre Singapore, and into homes, schools and community spaces in Singapore, where the public will be invited to listen. The youth ambassadors are expected to use their skills back on school or in community programmes.

Benefits of enrolment

Through the programme, the youth ambassadors will develop and grow the following skills and values:
  1. Increasing their interest and knowledge in a variety of STEM topics.
  2. Ability to interact effectively and communicate science concepts to a range of visitors.
  3. Ability to take an inclusive, welcoming approach and develop relevant social skills.
  4. Sharing their passion for science.
  5. Being positive role models for their peers and younger students in your school.

Selection of youths

Youth should be selected based on the following criteria:
  • 14 years and above
  • 1. Motivated to learn and try new things
  • 2. Responsible for self and others
  • 3. Passionate and generous about sharing
  • 4. Able to commit at least 50 hours of service
  • 5. Able to attend the above training and mentoring sessions
