Singapore Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF) 2025

The Singapore Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF) is Singapore’s most prestigious national competition for STEM research. Through rigorous investigation and hands-on experimentation, our students developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills while addressing complex real-world challenges.

We are proud to celebrate the creativity, resilience, and innovation demonstrated by our SST finalists this year.

Major Awards and Recognitions

Silver Award (Main Category) & Double Special Awards

  • Fu Cai Gui (S4-09) and Li Jiayou (S4-05)

    • Awards: Silver (Main Category), SUTD Research & Innovation Award (Sustainability), and the NUS Chemistry Special Award.

    • Project: Hydropod: A Novel Portable Hydrogen Reactor Using Gallium with Food and Aluminium Waste in Seawater.

Silver Award (Main Category) & SUTD Cities Award

  • Tan Yu Ning (S4-07)

    • Awards: Silver (Main Category) and SUTD Research & Innovation Award (Cities).

    • Project: 3-in-1 Functionalities of Recycled Polystyrene for Safer Pedestrian Walkways.

Silver Award (Main Category) & SUTD Sustainability Award

  • Teo Xin Hui Joyce (S4-05), Tan Ig Jer Kenji (S4-07), and Chan Zhang Hong Kasper (S4-09)

    • Awards: Silver (Main Category) and SUTD Research & Innovation Award (Sustainability).

Special Award: The Electrochemical Society, Singapore Chapter (ECS)

  • Ng Wai Yan, Nadja (S4-09), Jolene Lee Jia Xin (S4-02), and Ang Liang Tze (S4-04)

    • Achievement: Recognized by the ECS Singapore Chapter for excellence in electrochemical research.

Merit Award & Science Communication Award

  • Fidele Poh Xing Yun

    • Awards: Merit (Main Category) and the SAAS Poster Award for Science Communication.

Merit Award (Junior Category)

  • Alvarez Marco Lorenzo Tanzon (S3-07), Chua Yu Zhi Randel (S3-10), and Lee Sen Rong Alex (S3-02)

    • Achievement: Earned a Merit award for their outstanding research in the Junior Scientist track.

A Moment with Leadership Our Principal, Mr. Chan, celebrates with the SSEF 2025 finalists after a successful judging round at the Singapore Expo.

Presenting to the Minister Tan Yu Ning (S4-07) shares the impact of her sustainability research with Minister for Education, Mr. Chan Chun Sing. Her work explores using recycled polystyrene to improve urban safety.

Linguistic Innovation [L-R] Gavriel Chia Kai Ze (S4-05), Mak Mun Zhong (S4–02), and Jayden Tan Yi Zhe (S4-02) present their unique project: “Creation of a rhyming dictionary based on Standard Singapore British English (SSBE).”

Engaging Our School Leaders Yoshioka Lili (S3-07) explains her project regarding the effects of brewing temperature on coffee pH levels to our Vice-Principal, Mr. Sze.

Captivating the Audience Teo Xin Hui Joyce (S4-05) presents her findings to a captive audience of peers and industry professionals during the public exhibition.

Spotlight on Innovation A big shout-out to Li Jiayou (S4-05) and Fu Cai Gui (S4-09) for their incredible success with the "Hydropod" project, proving that waste can be a valuable resource for clean energy.
