Our Secondary 3 students recently put their skills to the test at the National STEM Championship (NMSC) 2025. Organised by Science Centre Singapore, this premier competition (formerly known as the National Science Challenge) is designed to push the boundaries of student knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
The Road to the Semi-Finals
The NMSC is renowned for its high-pressure environment, requiring teams to navigate a series of rigorous hurdles:
Theory Tests: Challenging the depth of their scientific understanding.
Hands-on Tasks: Applying engineering and mathematical principles to build functional prototypes.
On-site Challenges: Solving real-world problems at various partner institutions across Singapore.
We are incredibly proud to announce that the SST team demonstrated exceptional grit and technical prowess, advancing to the Semi-Final round of the competition.
Our Student Representatives
A huge congratulations to our team for their commendable performance and for embodying the spirit of inquiry that defines the School of Science and Technology:
Kmy Er Sze Lei (S3-07)
Alvarez Marco Lorenzo Tanzon (S3-07)
Ishaan Rai (S3-03)
Gracelyn Gosal (S3-08)
A Valuable Learning Journey
While the team narrowly missed a spot in the Grand Final telecast on Mediacorp, the experience was a masterclass in problem-solving and collaboration. Facing off against top schools nationwide, our students showcased their passion for innovation and their ability to think on their feet under intense scrutiny.
Their journey to the semi-finals is a testament to the strong STEM foundation fostered here at SST. We look forward to seeing how they apply these lessons to their future research and innovation projects!
