The International Student Science Fair 2018 is an annual event where students from Science Schools around the world congregate together to celebrate science achievements. It is also an event where student representatives from all over the world interact and network in the name of science.

The 14th Annual International Student Science Fair was organised for the first time on American soil from June 27 to July 1, 2018. The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) hosted the five-day event. The highlight are three global challenges that transcend national boundaries: water, hunger, and energy. Through the theme, “Significantly influencing life on our planet through cooperation and collaboration,” IMSA strives to deepen its mission as the world’s leading teaching and learning laboratory for the prosperity and security of present and future generations.

SST is represented by three students and one teacher to this event. They were:
Liang Ying Hao Matthew (S3-01)
Alya Sufiyah Binte Mohamed Subhan (S3-05)
Tan Fang Ting Valerie (S3-06)
Praveena Sandra Mohan (Teacher)

From this project, I have learned about how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics can come together to achieve something that is very impactful to society. Apart from learning various mathematical methods and scientific knowledge, I have also learned that values such as confidence, determination, curiosity and critical thinking are those that make up a good researcher (Matthew Liang, S3-01).
