East Zone A*STAR Science Fair (2 Aug 2019)


The EAST ZONE A*STAR SCIENCE FAIR 2018 is hosted by the East Zone Science and Technology Center@VJC. It is part of the centre’s effort to inspire and create greater interest in Science, Technology, Engineering & Math in the newly revised STEM Festival (formerly known as Science Carnival@VJC). 

There are 3 categories to the Science Fair:
♦ East Zone Category
– Open to East Zone Sec & East Zone IP schools (sec section) only

♦ Open Category
– Open to all Sec & IP schools (sec section) from other zones

♦ Lower Secondary Category
– Open to all Lower Sec teams from all zones


Total Number of entries per school is limited to maximum 4. 

The aim of the Science Fair is to give students the experience of conducting an investigative science project and provide students with a platform to exhibit and share their findings with others.

SST submitted 4 teams of Science Research project that our students have completed as part of their Investigative Skills in Science Programme. They were:



Investigation of the effect of electricity on plants. [SILVER]

Investigation of the effect of preservatives on the molding of bread
(Sylvester Koh, Jessen Emmanuel Handayo, Koo Anlan Timothy, S2-01)
 

Investigation of how different types of household liquids affect the rusting of a nail.
(Dani Africa, Chloe Koh Hui Rui, Charmaine Seo Jyue Ning, S2-02)
 

Investigation on how effective different antibacterial foods are on bacteria's growth
(Yap Yi Xuan, Ynez Chng Chyi Suan, Aston Chua Jie Xun S2-07)
